Library has fundraisers for matching grant
02-09-2011
The Lang Memorial Library is happy to announce that it was recently awarded a Libri Foundation grant for the purchase of children and young adult books. The Libri Foundation is a nationwide non-profit organization that donates new, quality hardcover books to small, rural, public libraries in the United States through its Books For Children program.
The Foundation matches on a 2-to-1 ratio. Thus, the library will receive $900 in books upon raising $300 in donations.
The Foundation works with the library and other local organizations "because we believe in community involvement and want to encourage and reward local support of libraries.
The Lang Memorial Library is currently holding a series of fundraisers to meet the grant's required matching funds. The events will include a used book and plant sale to be held on Sept. 23, 24, & 26th, as well as an ice cream party, and a literary scavenger hunt.
