Library Receives Libri Foundation Grant

24-02-2012
The Lang Memorial Library in Cato is proud to announce it is the beneficiary of a grant for small rural public libraries from the Libri Foundation of Eugene, Oregon.  The library recently received 58 books with a retail value of almost $1,000. The collection includes board books for toddlers through best selling fiction for teens.

The Libir foundation matches funds on a 2-to-1 bases. Thanks to donations from the Hearts and Hands Quilt Club, Cato-Meridian PTO and 3rd Grade Spelling Bee contestants as well as library patrons, the library was able meet the grant’s $300 requirement.

The books are currently on display in the library and available for checkout.  Each book includes a bookplate recognizing the donations from the community and the Libri Foundation.

Library director, Libbie Messina said this size of book purchase would have been a big strain on the library’s budget. The collection will be an asset to our library for many years.  We are grateful to the community and the Libir Foundation for their support.”
