Mission Statement of the Stewart B. Lang Memorial Library
The primary mission of the Stewart B. Lang Memorial Library is to serve persons of all ages by providing current high demand, high interest materials in a variety of formats. The library is also committed to serving young children by providing materials and programs which will encourage interest in reading and learning. In addition, the library will also strive to: support formal education, serve as a community information center; maintain materials pertaining to cultural education; and provide reference service.
The Lang Memorial Library is an association library chartered to serve the towns of Cato and Ira. We also serve the Cato-Meridian school district, our tax district. We observe the New York State rules of Free Direct Access and offer any resident of the state of New York full borrowing privileges.

"Make a Splash—READ!" is the theme this summer at the Lang Memorial Library. Children will explore the world of water and water fun through stories, songs, games and other activities about oceans, rivers, lakes, and pools and the creatures that live there. The 2010 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through adult, with programs, prizes, story hours, a reading club, and more. Families are invited to join the Read-to-Me portion of the program. Registration for the Summer Reading Program is in progress so don't forget to sign up! Ask a librarian for more informatin or call the library at 626-2101.
Considered by many as the "must-see" documentary of the year, Fresh will beheld at St. Patrick's Church in Cato on April 24th at 1:00pm. This important program about sustainable farming is presented by the Lang Memorial Library and will include a discussion of the film with Jamie Edelstein of Wyllie Fox CSA Farm. Samples of products locally grown or produced, as well as recipes for healthy eating, will also be presented.
